The
UNPLUG Salem Campaign
Collects Its 25,000th Signature to Close Nukes
In
its ongoing effort to shut down the aging and dangerous Salem Nuclear Plants.
These petitions have been sent on a regular basis to Senators Jon Corzine and
Frank Lautenberg, as well as Congressmen Frank Lobiondo and Rob Andrews.
Petitions were also submitted to the New Jersey Department of Environmental
Protection.
Commented
Norm Cohen, Coordinator of the UNPLUG Salem Campaign, “The fact that so many
people have signed petitions demanding the closure of the two Salem Nuclear
Plants, or at least the building of cooling towers to stop the Salem Nuke Fish
Slaughter if the plants remain open, should send a message to our politicians
that they better take a real interest in all the safety problems at these
aging and dangerous nuclear plants.”
The
UNPLUG Salem Campaign is a network of 109 organizations of all types: local;
regional; national; religious; civic; student; and environmental.
