WorldWater Builds Largest Solar Installation of Any Airport in the U.S.

On July 16, in conjunction with Fresno Airport a dedication was held celebrating the opening of the largest solar airport installation in the U.S. The solar system will provide 40% of the power supply required to run the airport. The 2-megawatt, ground-mounted solar system spans 9.5 acres, or the equivalent of seven football fields. The project is expected to save the airport about $13 million dollars over the next 20 years.

Constellation Wines U.S. (CWUS) today announced that it has begun installation of the largest winery solar power energy system in the world at its Gonzales Winery, located in Monterey County, Calif. The one megawatt solar system will cover approximately 170,000 square feet of the main winery warehouse roof and will produce more than 1,700,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, providing approximately 50 percent of the winery's total energy requirements. The installation is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Google Plans Largest US Corporate Solar Installation

I Solutions, the systems integration arm of Energy Innovations, will begin constructing a solar electricity system for Google’s Mountain View, California, headquarters campus. With a total capacity of 1.6 megawatts -? enough to supply 1,000 average California homes -? the Google system will be the largest solar installation on any corporate campus in the United States and one of the largest on any corporate site in the world.

Google will save more than $393,000 annually in energy costs - or close to $15 million over the 30-year lifespan of its solar system. At this rate, the system will pay for itself in approximately 7.5 years.
